Jesse's research in the Collins lab focused on the ecology of the tiger salamander ranavirus, ATV. In essence, he asked questions about how ATV gets around, sticks around, and kills. He is now an Assistant Professor at SUNY, College of Environmental Science and Forest Biology, Department of Environmental Science and Forest Biology. He is also interested in the evolution of parasite virulence, and in the stochastic nature of epidemics in small populations.
