I came into the lab during my junior year and haven’t left. I’ve participated in numerous research projects, including my own projects. I completed my honors thesis, which determined the effect of a fungal pathogen on native leopard frogs, and a research project that evaluated marking techniques for tiger salamanders funded by a competitive grant. I’ve since graduated and work full time as a research technician. One of my duties, apart from lab maintenance, is to optimize a large set of genetic markers (microsatellite and nuclear) for tiger salamanders (the lab’s model system). I’m also in the middle of writing up my two projects and applying to graduate schools to continue my interests in disease ecology.
